Quick Facts

  • Only the calculators listed on this page can be used to be used for the Math Test, Calculator portion of the test.
  • It is not permitted to make use of an electronic calculator while working on the Reading, Writing and Language or Math Test -- No Calculator sections. You must remove the calculator away during these sections of the test.

Calculator Smarts

  • It's important to note that the Math Test includes some questions where it's better not to utilize the calculator even if you're allowed to.
  • It might be helpful to complete scratch work on the test book. Get your thoughts down before applying your calculator.
  • Make sure your calculator is in good working order , and that your batteries are in good condition. The test centre will not supply extra calculators or batteries. If your calculator malfunctions during the test and you don't have a backup, you'll be required to finish the test without it.

You are allowed to use calculators only to take the Subject Tests in Mathematics. Refer to the rules and guidelines.

Acceptable Calculators

If you own any calculator with characters one inch or higher, or if your calculator displays a raised screen which could be visible to others taking the test, you'll be allowed to sit at the discretion by the coordinator of tests.

Only battery-operated, handheld equipment can be used to test. The use of power cords is not allowed.

Calculators that are allowed to be used during testing include:

Unacceptable Calculators

You cannot make use of any of the following items as a calculator:

  • Laptops, other computers, tablets, mobile phones, smartwatches, wearable technology or smartwatches
  • Models that can access the Internet are equipped with wireless, Bluetooth and cellular connectivity, audio/video recording and playback, camera, or other features that are similar to smartphones.
  • Models with a computer-style (QWERTY) keypad pen input, pen, or stylus
  • Models that have electric outlets, produce noise, or have a paper tape
  • Additionally, the use of hardware devices such as stylus devices that are compatible with an approved calculator is not permitted. Certain models with touchscreen capability aren't allowed (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
